Bertagni 1882 Spa Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Cashew and Almond in Sweet Butternut Squash Ravioli
The product is packaged as Simply Roundy's Natural - Authentic Italian Sweet Butternut Squash Ravioli, UPC011150507509 in Mariano's Stores in Illinois and Copps, Pick 'n Save and Metro Market in Wisconsin.
Bertagni 1882 SpA of Arcugnano, Italy is recalling Bertagni Sweet Butternut Squash Ravioli (UPC#8001020110139) because the product may contain undeclared cashews and almonds. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashews or almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
Approximately 55,000 units of Bertagni Sweet Butternut Squash were distributed nationwide to retailers throughout the U.S. This product, packaged in a paper tray with a strap wrapping around the tray, is generally sold in the refrigerated case in the dairy department. Product lots included in the recall are the following: 506B, 508C, 511D, 512C, 513B, 516B, 520A, 522B, 522F, 523B, 523C, 529C, 530F, 531F, 535C, 536A. These lots can be found black printed on the plastic bag on the front of the package.
Packaged at Meijer's: Bertagni 1882 SPA of Arcugnano, Italy is recalling Bertagni fresh Sweet Butternut Squash Ravioli and Meijer frozen Butternut Squash Ravioli because the products may contain undeclared cashew and almond. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashew or almond run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
Bertagni product is packaged in a paper tray inside a plastic bag and wrapped around with paper band, and was distributed nationwide between 5/11/15 and 11/12/15. The affected lot code can be found on the front of the Bertagni package
Meijer product is packaged in a paper box and was distributed in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin between 6/12/15 to 10/26/15. The affected lot code can be found on the side panel of Meijer package.

There have been no injuries or illnesses reported to date associated with this product. The recall was initiated because tests by an outside agency showed the presence of almond and cashew on raw material used in production of Sweet Butternut Squash Ravioli.
